This Ceramic Low releif wall piece, has been created by applying layers of coloured slip, which must go on while the clay is still wet.
When leather hard, the image is then built up by scratching, stamping and pressing through the top surface to the clay underneath.
After a first firing, the landscapes are then worked into with various oxides and coloured underglazes, to create moody, cloudy skies, grasses, trees and skylines.
The near completed picture is then dipped into a clear glaze, before a second kiln firing, giving the finished art work a glossy finish.
This ceramic landscape measures 5.5 cm square, approx 1 cm thick, mounted onto an up cycled, handcut, painted wooden panel. The whole art work measuring 20 x 20 cm square.
Fully signed on the front and reverse side.
Designed by Susan Wade - French in Falkirk, Scotland.
