Full description
This stunning cocobolo pen is hand crafted in my workshop overlooking the sea on Sanday, Orkney Islands. This beautiful wood comes from central America, and is increasingly difficult to buy, and like all my "exotic" woods, I rescued this from a skip when we lived in Yorkshire, and was formerly an old bed frame (it's amazing what folk throw away). Typical of the species, the wood has a faint but distinctive purple under-tone to the very dark brown colour, and has a very dense grain which is lovely to work with, finishing to a very smooth surface.
The pen has a centre-mounted twist mechanism, satin-chrome finish to the metal tip, clip, centre band and top finial, and the two halves of the pen are rotated to propel and retract the writing nib. It uses a Cross refill, easily changed by pulling the two halves of the pen apart and unscrewing the refill, and best of all there are no little springs to loose.
It weighs 27g, is 132mm long and 14mm at its widest.
Postage and packing are included in the price.
