Full description

A large drip painting of a rooster with a flowing green tail, finding stalks of wheat growing through the yellow ground.

Listed as a second as this is one of my very early paintings - created around January 2007, and one I haven't had for sale for many years as it's a completely different style to my current work.

The cockerel canvas is 50cm x 60cm (20" x 24") with thin 1.6cm edges. The top right corner of the canvas was damaged, being a little scuffed, frayed and showing the white colour of the canvas. I've removed the stray ends of canvas and covered this area with modelling paste to fill in the gaps, and painted it to match the background yellow. From a distance this fix isn't obvious, but the imperfect corner is visible closer up, and I've included a photo of this so it's clear how it looks. The canvas has a wire attached to the back so it's ready to hang.

The chicken art is painted in acrylics, with a mottled deep yellow colour for the background, and the rooster and wheat painted by dripping liquid paint from a bottle onto the canvas, giving a free and sketchy look to the image. The drips are all raised giving texture to the piece.

Due to the size of this painting, it will be sent by Parcelforce.
