Having made a few copper pieces by fusing silver to the surface I decided to try the brass shapes I have. They don't work as well as the copper and as they look exactly the same at the end it seems a little pointless. A nice little pendant and a change from discs and hearts.

Full description
A brass sun shaped pendant with a spiral of silver wire fused to it in the centre.
The sun shape has 8 long wavy rays and 8 short triangular ones.
Once the silver is fused to the surface the piece is cleaned and polished, slightly domed and then reheated to give a slight patina.
The colours of this patination are unpredictable, in this case green and purple among the deep reds.
The sun measures around 2.5cm/1" across and hangs by a length of twisted silver wirethreaded through a hole drilled through one of the longer rays, onto a red leather thong. The thong is fastened by a copper lobster claw clasp and a copper jump ring, the thong is approximately 45cm/18" long.
I haven't used this technique on brass often as it has a tendency to melt before the silver fuses. For some reason it also looks like copper once it is heated to a sufficient temperature to melt the silver. There is copper in the brass alloy and I can only assume that it rises to the surface.
A simple little pendant that would suit anyone really.
