***** DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY SALE! *****

This pendant fascinates me, and I have no idea where I got it!
At first I thought the fish were meant to symbolise the Zodiac sign of Pisces - but why were they being supported by a bat with outstretched wings?
A possible explanation lies in Chinese symbolism.
Here, the fish represents abundance and plenty, while the bat symbolises longevity, happiness and good fortune.
So I now believe this pendant is designed to wish the wearer an abundance of happiness, luck and long life.

Full description

This natural, cream-and-brown hued necklace features a large, round, carved Mother-of-Pearl pendant set between beads of Agate and shell.

The circular pendant is a slightly convex (due to the shape of the shell) piece of Mother-of-Pearl, that graduates from light brown to cream and has a lovely iridescent sheen that shows flashes of greens and pinks when it catches the light.

The shell is carved to show a pair of fish, facing each other, above what appears to be a bat with open wings (see inspiration).

The pendant measures approximately 2 inches (5cm) and is hung from a gold vermeil bail set between a pair of cream Mother-of-Pearl beads.

Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold - the plating is much thicker than standard gold plate.

The necklace graduates from brown, to light golden brown, to cream - reflecting the graduated colour of the pendant.

I have started with a pair of 8mm striped brown Agate beads, graduating to 6mm beads that alternate between striped and brown frosted Agate.

Next are rows of Goldlip shell heishi beads, separated by cream 4mm Mother-of-Pearl.

Next are 5mm creamy-white shell, culminating in a Tibetan gold-finished toggle clasp.

This clasp is easy to fasten, and is nickel and lead free.

The bead necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm), excluding the pendant.

Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.

Price includes delivery within the UK.
