This autumn has been a good year for mushrooms and I was inspired to try and capture some of the interesting shapes within my carving. I think my mushrooms have their own quirky character!

Full description
A hand carved wooden mushroom, measuring approximately 11cm in height and 7.5cm at the widest part of the base.
This piece of plum wood was cut in winter, which enables the bark to stay on the wood. The bark is roughly textured and adds an interesting feature to this piece.
The mushroom has been coated with bicarbonate of soda, to bring out the natural colours of the wood, then some areas have been coated with ebonising fluid. The ebonising fluid, made from white wine vinegar and wire wool, darkens the natural tannins in the wood and produces an attractive finish. The mushroom has then been finished with a coating of mineral oil and beeswax to treat the wood.
Once purchased, the item will be beautifully wrapped and sent to you in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging, which is fully recyclable. A free gift note, which you can write your own message on, can also be added, making this an ideal gift to give to someone special.
