Inspiration for this Wall piece, comes from a common thread running through my work, exploring the often fragile balance between humankind, nature and how we are all linked.
The shapes, lines and textures that I mould, cut and form are related to the various recurring and repeating patterns and colours found in nature, the changing seasons and an interest in Folklore and Green Man Mythology.
This particular ' Nature Guardian' reflects the transition from Summer to Autumn
This wall piece is frost proof so suitable for outdoors on a fence or wall surrounded in ivy or other climbing plants, but equally happy indoors in a hall way, living room or conservatory setting, bringing a touch of nature inside your home.

Full description
This wall piece has been made by using a variety of clay, hand building techniques such as, press moulding, slab rolling and modelling.
Layering ceramic textures, moulds of sycamore and seed heads, acorns and imprints of sycamore and oak leaves, combined with the press moulded face made from an original cast.
After careful drying, the Nature Guardian is placed in the kiln for an initial firing before layers of oxides,stoneware glazes and glass shards are applied before a second firing to a high stoneware temperature, making it safe for outdoors.
This Nature Guardian Wall Art is ready to hang, with a clay and wire hook built into a recess built into the reverse of the piece (shown in the images) then two discreet screw holes to provide extra security against a wall or fence. I would recomend using brass screws as they don't rust.
Measuring 33 cm in height, a width of 25 cm and an approx thickness of 4 cm at it's deepest point.
