At the moment I am not able to accept orders from Northern Ireland or to ship there. Apologies to those in that part of the UK.
My ceramics are the result of a long period of experimentation with black stoneware clay. My aim is to create pieces that reflect the inherent qualities of the clay itself, and to form and decorate using the minimum of tools, so that the finished piece can reflect the material and the maker.
I use just my hands to shape each piece, then decorate the surfaces with motifs influenced by textile designs and artwork from the early 20th century.
While there are recurring shapes, motifs and colours in my work, each piece is entirely unique in its form and decoration. The work is fired to 1185 degrees Celsius in an electric kiln over a period of 12 hours. Pieces bear my maker’s mark of a swallow impressed into the base.

This lovely oval-based vase with striking abstract decoration is perfect for garden flowers, fresh or dried, or for a display of ferns or evergreens to give a fresh modern look to your room. I work by hand with black stoneware clay, then decorate the surface with freeform streams of ribbon-like lines in shades of blue which swirl around the piece. The images show different views of the decorative effect. Inside I used an iron lustre glaze with tones of rust and blue, while the outside is left unglazed matt black clay to set off the colours of the ribbon decoration. Each of my vases is different in looks and character, so each has a name, and this one is Barnaby – 17 cms high and 9cms at the widest part of the oval base, which bears my potters’ signature mark of a swallow. One of the images shows Barnaby with two friends from my Ribbons collection.
