These striking earrings feature drops of fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver. The fordite has broad swirls in sparkly colours predominantly grey, red, green with a band of white, the patterns don't quite match as I was trying to keep as much of the unusual green whilst making the patterns as interesting as possible. The earrings measure approx 47mm from the top of the hook to the bottom by 19mm across and are finished with simple hooks (sterling silver). Comes gift boxed.
Fordite is the name given to many layers of cured car paint that builds up in spray booths at car factories. The paint gets baked hard in between each layer leading to a durable material that can be cut to show off the many colours. This particular material I bought from a guy who worked at Ford's Wayne Assembly plant and he had collected it from the production line in 2018 (they were doing C-max and Focus at that time, it was the first year they introduced 'outrageous green' as a colour option). I cut this material myself (you can see some of the rough in the photos, this isn't included in the sale) so if you love fordite but want something else making drop me a message, I have quite a stash of rough from various eras and manufacturers. Fordite is becoming increasingly hard to source and thanks to more efficient painting processes less is being made so if you love your cars get some of the unique material whilst you can.
