My Saturn's Rings design is inspired by a close up photograph taken by NASA's Cassini probe.

I've been fascinated by the intersection of textile crafts and science for many years and hacking my knitting machine has given me the ideal way to express the beauty of the patterns that arise in this area.

Full description

A flat pencil case made from my Saturn's Rings fabric. It has a sturdy zip and lining and is ideal for carrying writing and drawing tools, or knitting and sewing essentials. The outer fabric is pure Shetland-style wool from one of Scotland's oldest mills. The lining is grey polyester cotton and the zip is grey with gold coloured metal. The dimesions of the case are approximately 8cm by 20.5cm.

I knit the outer fabric in my studio in Edinburgh and the bags are constructed for me by a local social enterprise.

Designed by Madeleine Shepherd in Edinburgh
