Unique macramé sculpture of a mermaid resting on a rock in the ocean whilst the waves crash around her.
Designed from tying knots by hand, with over 25 hours work to create this is a magical fantasy piece of original artwork.
The mermaid is propped up on one arm with her pale yellow hair cascading around her. Her tail and bikini top have been made from a bright turquoise (cove colour from Hitch and Arrow) bamboo string which gives it the perfect shine. Her body is made from braided 100% recycled cotton from woolly What Knot and her hair is made from bobbiny 100% recycled cotton. For her head I have used a large wooden bead. Through her arms is a piece of paper wrapped florists wire.
The rock the mermaid is laying on has been created from the same braided cotton but in multiple grey colours. A small patch of seaweed clings to the rock and for this I used bamboo string in fern.
For the base I have used a 4mm oxford blue Everlasto string and the for waves I used Everlasto oxford and eton blue with a touch of bamboo cove for light and white bobinny for the sea foam and spray.
The very bottom of the sculpture is covered in a piece of sand coloured woollen felt.
At its widest points measurements are 25x20x20cm.
