Nature and landscape are common threads running through my work.
These landscape mugs depict a touch of Spring in the air, complete with little Sparrow perched on the handle.
Inspired by a stretch of nearby coastline and wetlands in the Central Belt of Scotland where I stay, which is one of three RSPB sites in the area, home to many bird species, plants and insects.
This mug has been hand thrown on the wheel, with a traditional pulled handle, making it comfortable to hold, and is a piece of usable art, bringing a bit of the outdoors indoors.
Stamped with makers mark near the base of the handle.

Hand thrown on the potter's wheel, with a traditional pulled handle, t landscape built up with a hen additional modelling for the small Sparrow and leaves.
Once dried, the mug receives an initial firing, before being decorated with a landscape built up with wax resist, various oxides and glazes, to create a depiction of land, sky and grasses, before a final glaze firing to a high stoneware temperature making them strong and durable.
Each mug comes in it's own cardboard gift box stuffed with shredded paper tissue and a short description of the inspiration behind the design.
These mugs are made in small batches, although similar, each one is unique and have been listed separately.
