Nature is a theme that runs through all my work, similarly when creating this beaded jewelry range, each bead is painted individually, inspired by the textures in stone and earth, sometimes carved into the wet clay, with branch like lines, or glazed reflecting the colours of sky and landscape.
The whole necklace or bracelet becomes a piece of wearable, tactile art.

Full description
The beads on this choker style necklace have been hand rolled using a mixture of earthenware and stoneware clay.
After an initial firing the beads are then painted with various layers of oxides and underglazes, over laid with coloured glazes, creating a mixture of glossy and matt finishes.
After a second firing, I choose beads in complementing colours and textures to knot together this simple but effective necklace using black cotton chord, fastening with a clasp at the back.
This neclace is approx 24 cm in length and each bead measures approx 1.5 cm in width, and comes in its own gift box made from recycled paper fibres.
