I painted this whippet a few years ago and liked the image so decided to add a winter background to go with his winter coat.
The coats are needed as Whippets and Italian greyhounds feel the cold. A lot! They're not dressed like that just to be cute.
Alfie my little Italian greyhound will shiver with cold and sticks close to the radiator in my studio in winter. They have very low body fat and short coats which makes it harder for them to retain heat.
They are very good lap warmers too.
