Being from the North West, I've spent lots of time in the Lake District and love seeing the rugged little Herdwicks on the fells. They have such pleasing, gentle faces and such a variety of colours - slate grey, purplish brown, licorice black. I wanted to make a sturdy little sheep that captures the character of this hardy breed.

Tom is a shaggy Herdwick ram, hand-crafted and recycled from newspaper, magazines and flour and water paste. He is about 15 cm long, just right to sit on a shelf and gaze out over the Lakeland Fells (or maybe a suburban terrace) and remind his happy owner of adventures in wild places. A perfect gift for anyone who loves these woolly Cumbrian icons.
