March Birthstone - Aquamarine
April Birthstones - Diamond and Quartz
The name pyrite comes from the Greek "pyr" meaning fire, so named because it emitted sparks when hit with an iron tool.
The sparks generated when pyrite is hit by flint or quartz were used in ancient times to start fire.
Pyrite and flint were found on the 5000 year old remains of "Otzi man" recovered from a glacier in the Austro-Italian Alps in 1991.
