I found this sweet vintage runner at the York car boot, and sometimes the washed out faded fabrics have their own charm. This is one of those. It turns out to be the perfect size for lavender bags, and now it has a new life.

Full description
This lovely old piece from a vintage dressing table runner was at the end of its life. However, it still had a period charm, with its faded vintage flowers and well washed linen, and was the perfect fabric for lavender bags. I have filled it with dried lavender from Terrington village in North Yorkshire. Lavender has been used for centuries for its special properties, so, pop it over a clothes hanger or in a drawer to keep your clothes smelling sweet and free from moths, or under your pillow for a healthy nights sleep. This lavender would make a nice present for someone learning to embroider, for a bride wanting pretty storage for a wedding dress, or for anyone who wants a restful nights sleep.
The bag measures 11 cm by 11 cm and nestling inside it is a muslin bag of dried Yorkshire lavender.
There is a hook for popping over a clothes hanger, or to hang it up like a tiny piece of craftwork in its own right.
The front is made from a fragment of a dressing table cloth, and the back is embroiderie anglaise, the little holes allowing the scent to come out. It is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
I like to reuse. Your bag will be posted out in clean recycled packaging from my hoard, and sent as Royal Mail 2nd class.
