Full description

This pendant features a oval of stripey fordite which has been bezel set and mounted landscape rather than the more common portrait way round, the multi coloured stripes run horizontally across the piece. The sterling silver setting runs smoothly along a silver snake chain, the setting is open backed making it reversible but the front looks better. Measures 34mm by 21mm (exc bail) and comes on an 18 inch chain, if you'd prefer a different length please drop me a message.

Fordite is layers of cured paint that built up in the spray booths at vehicle plants, the panels would be placed on rails to be sprayed and paint would build up on the rails getting cured after each coat. The guy I bought the rough material from worked at the Kenworth plant in Chillicothe USA. Kenworth make cabs for big 18 wheel trucks often with custom paint colours hence the range in this piece. Changes in how vehicles are painted mean that fordite is only formed in small quantites now and it is becoming increasingly difficult to source. You can see the rough in some of the photos - its the white thing and isn't included in the sale - if you like the colour palette but would prefer something else drop me a message.

Measures 34mm by 21mm (exc bail) and comes in a gift box.
