These flowers are both delicate and strong, they bend in the breeze, able to withstand much buffeting, and stand tall and ethereal in the summer sunlight.

'Daughters of the Wind'
In this botanical watercolour, I wanted to capture the Japanese anemone’s simple yet timeless elegance — its clean lines, gentle curves, and quietly expressive presence. Soft pink petals are balanced by fresh green foliage, each element carefully observed to honour the plant’s natural grace.
These flowers embody a beautiful duality: at once delicate and resilient. They sway and bend in the breeze, enduring repeated buffeting, yet continue to stand tall and luminous, their blooms appearing almost ethereal in the warm summer sunlight.
Anemone takes its name from the Greek “Daughter of the Wind”, rooted in an ancient myth. Anemone was said to be a beautiful nymph caught in a love triangle. Out of jealousy, Chloris — the wife of Zephyr — transformed her into a flower, and Zephyr soon lost interest. One of the four wind gods, Boreas, then fell in love with Anemone, but his affection was unreturned. Each spring, in his anger, he blew open her petals, causing them to fade too quickly — a poetic explanation for the flower’s fleeting beauty.
The painting measures 16 x 11.75 inches and is presented in a distressed wood frame with a crisp white mount. The total framed dimensions are 19 x 23 x 0.75 inches
