Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

Additional terms
Hand crafted gifts using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final piece, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each item comes with a short bio. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

In January 2021 while out walking the banks of The River Tees, Barnard Castle, Co Durham I came across a small concentration of broken bits of pottery.
I found this long shard beside the river, just below Eggleston Abbey, near Thorsgill Beck. Striking pink, red colours and pattern, the ceramic really stood out.
After a thorough clean I managed to drill a hole and sand the sides. The shard was chunky and I originally made it into a decoration hanging on cord but recently decided to rework the piece. I never plan what to make with the shards, instead allow it to naturally develop. As I sanded the piece became thinner but still retained the length and very slight curve. This created a lovely long pendant with a unique design.
The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn’t meant to be perfect, instead retain part of its original character, including scratches, marks and imperfections. Front Glaze in tact, back and sides smooth and sealed with Eco friendly matte sealant.
Pendant measures approximately 36mm x 10mm x 3mm.
Presented on 46cm 925 sterling silver snake chain.
Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Sustainable gifts, complete with short bio.
