Hi there and welcome to my shop. Here you will find little fragments of embroidery, faded vintage and sparkling new remnants made into something pretty and practical once again.
I will be putting new things on the shelves throughout March,so please keep stopping by for a rummage. Whilst postage may take a little longer than usual, it is getting through, so please be patient while you await your order. I will always let you know when I have posted it out.
Thank you for visiting me at Folksy.
This little make up or storage bag, is made from a beautifully worked vintage cross stitch sampler. It features a cute spring time design of a little girl with a lamb. This was designed by Hummel, and the name is embroidered along the bottom seam. Hummel designed plates with romantic designs of children, particularly in the 1970’s, and this is a classic of one of those designs. It would make a lovely present for a lover of vintage fabrics, perhaps for someone learning to embroider, or for a little girl on her Birthday to store her precious things in.
This little bag is made from Aida fabric, which is constructed with tiny holes in, to create a perfect, even, cross stitch. It has been backed with cotton to strengthen it, but it is still a soft little bag.
It measures 20 cm across and 20 cm down, and closes with a russet 20 cm zip. The back is made from recycled brushed denim to give it some edge.
There is a finger hook so you can hang it up as a little piece of artwork in its own right, or just twirl it around your finger.
The lining is a vintage floral cotton by Moygashel, and the bag is finished with my own embroidered name tag.
There are some faint rust marks to the embroidery, but considering this could have been worked in the 1970’s, it is in good condition.
Please use a gentle cool or hand wash, and leave to dry naturally.
I like to reuse if I can. Your bag will be posted out using clean, recycled paper from my hoard, and sent as Royal Mail 2nd class.
I bought a whole collection of wonderful samplers from a York table top sale last spring. This kitsch little illustration is so beautifully worked, and so typical of vintage Hummel designs.
