Formerly 'Buttons, Beads and Blanket Stitch'.
My work predominantly comprises hand cut and burnished lino prints, with sewing playing an occasional part.
Whether working in print or in stitch, I am inspired by the natural world and the people around me, with words/text frequently playing an integral part.
* I endeavour to represent my pieces as clearly and with colours as true to life as possible, however some slight variations in tone between the image on screen and the piece itself may occur.*
This print was made in the memory of my lovely Grandma, making a companion piece to 'Grandpa's Goodnight'.
Grandma was always ready to listen and offered an ever optimistic take on things, frequently reassuring us (adults and children alike), that in one way or another, everything just pans out in the end – it’ll all resolve itself…
From a less personal perspective, I see this print as conveying a very relevant message of hope, optimism and positivity.

I love to incorporate text into my prints and much like its companion piece, it’s the message and so the writing that is the star here. I loved carving the large sweeping text and the bold roses too, the addition of which offer a nod to my grandparents’ much loved garden.
With sketches made and text and images decided upon, I transferred my final design onto lino which I then hand cut and burnished onto a beautiful creamy Japanese Shiramine Select paper. The paper measures approx. 21.5cm x 26.5cm with the printed image itself measuring approx. 15cm x 20cm.
Each of these 6 prints (the first printed from a variable edition of 50) comprises a base of pale salmon pink for the blooms, over which is printed the main image in a dark green, with both colours in oil based inks. Each print is numbered, titled, signed and dated.
Having been printed by hand, slight variations from print to print will occur; such is the beauty of a unique, hand crafted piece.
Your print will be posted to you in a bio-degradable cello with a back board, ready to present as is or to frame with the mount and surround of your choosing.
This print would make a thoughtful gift with its ever relevant message of hope, optimism and positivity.
