Naughty thrushes stealing strawberries - this is William Morris' most well-known designs - printed in amazing detail and rich colours onto 100% cotton fabric - from his original company, Morris & Co.
I have chosen sections of the birds stealing a fruit, one bird singing and a pair of strawberries with blue foliage. I then created a 38mm diameter fabric covered flat backed button, with slight padding to create a nice slight domed effect.
They are then secured into a round pendant blank that has a lovely dotty pattern to the reverse, you can choose to have the pendants with antique bronze with 18 inch (45cm) flat oval trace chain (links are 4.5 x 3 mm and 12mm lobster clasp) or antique silver plated pendant with matching figaro chain that measures 24 inches.
The measurement of the pendant is 4 cm wide by 5 cm long, that includes the 1 cm for the bail. The chains and pendant blanks are both nickel and lead free.
There are three options to choose from with a navy background: Bird with strawberry facing right, bird singing and a pair of strawberries with light blue foliage.
This lovely unique pendant will come to you safe and carefully packaged in a UK Made eco-friendly recycled kraft card jewellery box - perfect for gifting to that Pre-Raphaelite or Arts & Crafts style fan (or as a treat for yourself!).
As it’s made of cotton, this is also ideal as a small token for a 2nd wedding anniversary gift!
William Morris based the pattern and name on the thrushes which frequently stole the strawberries in the kitchen garden of his countryside home, Kelmscott Manor, in Gloucestershire. Despite the fact that this design was one of the most expensive printed furnishings available from Morris & Co., (due to the particular printing method employed) it became a firm favourite with clients.
