This is pure silk, strong and at the same time so deliciously soft as only silk can be.
For traditional Japanese bookbinding the sewing thread should be made from silk and have about the same thickness as Perle 5 cotton, according to master bookbinder Kojiro Ikegami, author of what many consider THE book about Japanese bookbinding. This is just the right thickness for that.
Other than for binding books this is a wonderful material for crochet or knitting, as well as especially lush macramé.
You can use it as it is, but it also takes different dyes well.
