I seek out scraps of these old embroideries at the York Car boot. I love their soft washed appearance, and can’t bear them to go to waste. It’s a nice feeling to give them a new lease of life.

Full description
This pretty lavender bag is made from the corner of a lovely old tablecloth. Its vintage embroidery spray of flowers is the perfect size for the front of a lavender bag. I have made the back from a piece of cut back vintage embroidery, so the scent can waft out. It is filled with dried lavender from Terrington in North Yorkshire.
Since ancient times the lovely fragrant lavender has been used to help give calming sleep, store with your best clothes to keep them smelling fresh and to keep away pesky moths. Lovely to pop in a drawer with a bridal gown, as a sweet little house warming present, or as a virtual hug for a friend.
This is a slightly larger bag than my usual, more like a flat pouch, so I could fit in the whole spray of flowers! It measures 12 cm by 12 cm and inside is nestling a little muslin pillow filled with Yorkshire lavender.
There is a practical hook for popping onto a clothes hanger or for hanging up in a bedroom to keep the air sweet and admire the embroidery.
The front and back are made from different sections of vintage embroidery. They create a different design front and back, tho the pattern placement may vary slightly from bag to bag. The cut back design on the back allows the scent to come out, and the bag is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
I like to reuse as much as possible. Your little bag will be posted out to you wrapped in clean, recycled packaging, and sent out as Royal Mail 2nd class with proof of posting.
