I love being able to go out and see wildlife in it's natural habitat. I love to come home with a sketchbook, camera and head full of ideas! I use my Granny's old Bernina sewing machine as my drawing tool along with bits of applique to capture the spirit as well as the image of the wildlife I observe.

Full description
In my work I want to capture the character as well as the look of the birds and animals I portray so whilst I have to admit to not having a seen a bright pink floral blackbird I've definitely seen blackbirds with this kind of character! For this piece I chose this lovely floral print in bright pink for the body and then used bright embroidery thread for the eye and beak to create a bright and chirpy character. I use my sewing machine as a drawing tool, using stitch to define my pieces and capture the spirit of the birds and animals I create.
This unique embroidered piece comes mounted in an acid free white card mount with backing, ready to frame. The mounted artwork will arrive with you in a cellophane wrapper and will be posted out in a padded envelope to protect it. The mount measures about 41 x 51 cm and the picture aperture measures 29 cm x 42 cm.
