A view of Runswick Bay up a winding street to the hilltop using a jigsaw method.

Ink used: Hawthorn Printmakers opaque and transparent oil based inks.

Paper used: 300gsm Snowdon Printmakers paper.

Size: 8 x 10 inches (image size 6 x 8 inches)

This listing is for one print only.

Each edition is created using hand carved plate of "battleship" grey lino carved with specialist tools and printed with a hand wound press. It's always so satisfying peeling back to paper to reveal to final print.

Due to the handmade nature of linocut, variations will occur which add to the individuality of each print, making each print completely unique.

The print will be backed with cardboard and wrapped in biodegradable cellophane with a note describing the inspiration and process of printmaking, before being carefully wrapped and sent to you in a hard backed envelope.

This print is based on a photograph I took, some years ago now, whilst visiting Runswick Bay. We loved roaming the streets and running down all the little alleys, which are too tiny for cars to access. The village is located on the North Yorkshire Coast and clings to the side of the cliffs which a steep decent to the sandy beach below. It's lovely to explore and then head back to get an ice cream at the little cafe near the boat launch.

This print was made using the jigsaw method. With this method you carve out your design on lino, and then cut sections off it off to create separate pieces. These pieces can then be inked separately and places back together in a jig, to hold them in place whilst you pass them through the press.

I created a night scene with a darkening sky and stars, and a day scene with birds in the sky for this print. Is it a variable limited edition of 60. I have a limited amount of each currently, due to limited access to printing facilities during lockdown.
