Hello and welcome to my little corner of Folksy, I'm Carrie and I'm so excited to be part of a community celebrating handmade British crafts.
My studio is set in the heart of the village of Stamford Bridge, between historic York and the rolling beauty of The Wolds. I am lucky to live in such a beautiful location, and be able to access a wealth of inspiration all within walking distance of my house. I often go out walking and collecting objects or taking photographs of things that interest me, then coming home and sketching ideas for my designs. I often illustrate my designs in watercolour first and then pick out designs I like to turn into linocuts.
All my limited edition linocuts are hand carved and printed using Hawthorn Printmakers inks, which are a local supplier to me. Just 2 villages away! My style is contemporary with a modern, yet classic feel, and maybe even a little vintage when the mood takes me. When I'm in my studio I like to have music on a sing along to my favourite tunes.
My shop name is an amalgamation of my kids' names (Evie Rose and Henry). Evie gave Hen his nickname when he was a baby, and it's stuck ever since, so of course it had to be Rose & Hen, designs in print.
