Full description
To make this brooch I first built up a base of several layers of clear enamel on the copper shape. I then added scatterings pale purple and pale green enamel powder and when it was at red hot in the kiln, I drew through the surface to generate the unique, random pattern that decorates the butterfly's wings. below the clear enamel the copper base shimmers gold and brown and the purple a green show as the veining of a butterfly's wings
The butterfly measures 66mm at its widest, 40mm at is longest. It is mounted on a 20mm brooch bar, soldered to the copper base. The pin secures with a rotating catch.
