Hello! and thanks for visiting my Folksy shop. I am gradually restocking my shelves during January, so please do keep popping back to see what's new!
This pretty lavender bag is made from a fragment from a beautiful vintage piece of table linen. It is covered with a spray of carefully embroidered tiny flowers in softly faded and washed pastel colours. It is filled with dried lavender from The Yorkshire Lavender Farm in Terrington. Since ancient times the lovely lavender has been used to aid sleep, keep clothes smelling fresh, and keep away pesky moths. Lovely to store in a drawer with a bridal gown, as a gift for a bride, or as a present for an embroiderer.
This is a slightly larger bag than my usual ones, measuring 10 cm by 10 cm
Inside is nestling a tiny muslin pillow filled with English lavender from North Yorkshire.
There is a practical hook for popping onto a clothes hanger or hanging up in a bedroom, to keep the air sweet.
The front and back are made from different sections of the same piece of table linen, and create a different design front and back.
The bag is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
Just squeeze gently from time to time to refresh your lavender scent.
I like to reuse as much as possible. Your little bag will be posted out to you wrapped in clean, recycled packaging.
It will be sent by Royal Mail 2nd class.
This is a beautifully worked fragment of embroidery, stitched by a true craftswoman. We will never know who she was, and that makes it all the more special. I love to make use of all the tiny scraps left over from my work, and little lavender bags are perfect for that.
