When making these pendants I'm never exactly sure what the result will be, this one is quite simple and the silver has fused without losing the profile of the silver wire. I choose the name based on how it looks when it's finished. The arc of the silver with it's little melted head reminded me of a comet. I enjoy making these because of the unpredictability of the results.

Full description

A disc of copper with a length of silver wire fused to its surface in a curved arc from top right to lower left. There's a little blob of silver at the lower end which is why I called it comet. When the silver melts it spreads to form a thin layer around the silver wire. After cleaning, the copper is lightly reheated to form a patina and then domed slightly. The pendant measures 1" (2.5 cm) across and is hung on a fine, silver grey, leather thong. The thonging is adjustable by two sliding knots.

The technique used to make these pendants is unpredictable and sometimes very unexpected effects appear. This one has worked rather well.
