I have stitched this fabulous old Welsh tea towel into a practical little pouch or cosmetics bag. With a view of Caernarfon Castle on the front and St Davids Cathedral on the back, there is a hint of summer holidays, the sea, and Welsh coastal maps .I have managed to squeeze in the heraldic shields of Anglesey, Denbigh and Port Talbot, so they don’t feel left out!
The fabric has been backed onto recycled cotton fabric to strengthen it, but it is still soft. It measures 16 cm wide and 17 cm long with a bright blue zip opening measuring 16 cm. It has a matching bright blue lining.
There is a finger hook to hang it up somewhere special to admire the view! and I have stitched a button covered with a heraldic lion onto the front. The purse is finished off with my own embroidered name tag.
I do try to recycle. Your pouch will be posted out using clean, recycled wrapping from my collection of old books maps and wallpapers.
It will be posted out as Royal Mail 2nd class with proof of posting, which takes 3 days.
I hunt for old tea towels at the York Car boot. They have such wonderful artwork and humour, sometimes I simply frame them and hang them on the wall at home!
With a little care, they can also be sewn into something practical, to give them a stay of execution.
