Full description

This unusual free form pendant features a cabochon of brightly coloured fordite bezel set in sterling silver. The fordite has different colours and patterns on the 2 sides so the setting is open backed allowing it to be reversed. The 'front' is blue, white, grey to it with a layer of red whilst the back has more black, green and silver to it.

Fordite is normally layer upon layer of cured paint that built up in old spray booths at car factories however I've been unable to match this to any particular car brand colour charts. Since I bought the rough from someone who lived on the coast it might be boatite which is layers of paint that built up whilst boats were being painted, what ever its origins it is a very colourful and fun material. I cut and polished this material myself and you can see the rough in the last photo with the pendant.

Measures approx 45mm by 28mm excluding the bail. Comes gift boxed with a sterling silver chain but you could easily swap it onto a leather thong if you wanted to.
