A heart shaped copper and silver pendant made by fusing two lengths of silver wire to it's surface by melting with a blowtorch.
Measuring approximately 5cms (2") at it's longest and 3cms (2.25") wide, the pendant is gently reheated after it has been cleaned of the firestain from melting the silver, this gives some interesting colours on the copper. I then dome it a little to make a more interesting shape and then polish it.
The pendant is hung from a copper jump ring on a natural cotton cord, the cord is tied with sliding knots, so the length is adjustable and the pendant slips over the head without fiddly fasteners.
One of a range of slightly experimental pieces, each one informs the ideas for the next. This one has two simple lengths of silver wire fused on to it following the curve of the eccentric copper heart shape. As the silver melts and fuses to the copper, unpredictable silver pools form on the surface which is part of the excitement of working this way.
