I AM IN THE PROCESS OF MOVING ITEMS FROM THIS SHOP TO MY OTHER FOLKSY SHOP 'Lynwoodcrafts' where they will be waiting for you to view them! All my items now feature upcycled, recycled, repurposed or gifted materials and there is no longer any distinction between the two shops!
A small collection of vintage tea towels were too nice to discard. Combined with simple motifs I produced this needle book. The 'pages' were cut from vintage flannelette sheeting.

A practical and pretty embroidered needle book, entirely hand-stitched from vintage textiles.
I loved the texture and bold stripes of a vintage, red and white tea towel which showed no signs of use. Cut so that the stripes are pleasingly placed, it has provided fabric for the cover of this needle book. A simple circular motif has been hand-embroidered onto the front of the cover using matching white and red threads. On the reverse of the needlebook the sentiment 're-love re-live' has been hand embroidered in a circular motif in the same red and white threads. The cover is finished by an edging of blanket stitch in white thread.
The needle book is lined in a grey and white striped fabric. The cover is stiffened by two layers of interfacing. Two pieces of vintage soft flannelette are folded and securely stitched in place, to provide four 'pages' for your needles and pins. The needle case closes by winding two red 'cords' (produced from crocheted thread), in opposing directions around a lovely vintage, linen-covered, laundry button.
