These fused copper and silver pieces came about after melting the ends of silver wire when making torcs to hang my other jewellery from. I also read about fusing silver wire to itself, I wondered if it would fuse to other metals. My first experiments were very random and a flower became a melted abstract, since then I've gained a little more control but I still get surprises and interesting mistakes.
These pieces are one offs, even using the same materials and the same technique would not reproduce the exact result of this piece.

Full description
Circular copper pendant with two silver wires fused horizontally across the upper half, I thought it looked like a planet with rings, so that's why I chose the name. It's a fairly simple abstract design.
The copper is heated quite fiercely to fuse the silver to it's surface, this causes a random spread of silver on the pendant, it also causes interesting and random colour changes on the copper itself.
After the pendant cools and is cleaned of fire stain, it is domed and then polished to a high shine using an agate burnisher.
The pendant hangs from a narrow, round leather thong in a natural finish, the thonging is fastened with two sliding knots which allow adjustment of the length from approx 60cm to 30cm.
The pendant itself measures 3.5cm at it's widest point and 2.5cm deep.
