I cut and polish my own fordite, surfite and bowlerite, I'm happy to take commissions. If I don't have shipping to your country set up please drop me a message as it might be possible.
USA customers - I will be shipping using Royal Mail/ USPS so I can pre pay your tariff charges which I have included in the shipping costs.
I love fordite and have done for many years which people find surprising as I don't own a car. I love the idea that this is material that would otherwise have ended up in a skip and no too pieces are the same. It has become increasingly hard to get hold of vintage material especially in the UK so when I found someone selling off their stash I bought the whole lot as I just don't know when I'll find any more. Some experts can tell which factory the material came from and when based on the colours in it so each piece is a record of the changing tastes of society

This pendant features a piece of vintage fordite (believed to be from the Dagenham factory in the 60's/ 70's) with a swirling pattern in shades of blue, red, white and grey which has been bezel set in silver. The design has an open back as the pattern on the fordite is different - the back has stripes of off white, green, orange, beige and navy. Some of the paint layers on both the front and back are sparkly.
This would be an ideal present for a petrol head/ car lover as fordite is layer upon layer of cured car paint chipped from the spray booths at the factories - the formulation of the paint and the way that the cars are sprayed has changed and so proper fordite is no longer made (but someone is working on making a 'fake' version using layers of epoxy paint).
This cabochon has been stabilised with epoxy resin - the resin is only visible at the back, the front is pure fordite.
Pendant measures 1 1/2 inches from top of the bail to the bottom, just under 1 inch wide. Comes complete with a 16 inch box chain - if it you would prefer it on a longer leather thong let me know and I'll sort it out.
Comes in a hand folded gift box in an organza bag - ready for gift giving.
