I was lucky enough to go to Indonesia which is where most fossilised coral comes from and when I saw this piece I had to have it. There was some hand waving and negotiation via a piece of paper but it was mine. I'm used to seeing this material in creamy beige tones and whilst I knew that it came in blue/ grey I had never seen it for sale hence the effort of getting it.

The focus of this necklace is a stunning blue grey piece of fossilised coral which has been bezel set in fine and sterling silver. It hangs from a necklace of soft grey coloured botswana agate and denim blue sodalite which compliment the tones of the coral, each of the beads is on an hand made link of silver wire. Within the necklace there are 2 silver stations that have been shaped to look like coral fronds. The fossilised coral has a pattern like firework bursts or spiky chrysanthemums which comes from the original polyp structure of the coral, I have left the back of the setting open to show the pattern on the back of the stone.
The necklace is approx 17 inches with a 2 inch extender, the fossilised coral is 1 1/2 inches by just over 1 inch.
Coral is supposed to represent the 35th anniversary and this would make a wonderful and unusual present.
Comes in a gift box in an organza bag - ready for gift giving.
