Clay is a beautiful material and so I wanted to make something beautiful using it.
Isaiah 64:8
Yet you, LORD, are our Father.
We are the clay, you are the potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
The walls of the bowl represent the Holy Land, the glass Holy water or 'Water of Life' and when a small candle burns in it it can represent the 'Light of the World.'
I absolutely love the way that the combination ot earth, air, fire,and water make a pots clay permenant.

Hand built stoneware Christian decorative bowl.
This sculptured bowl is wonderful to help with contemplation and prayer and would also make a wonderful gift for Baptism, Christening, First Communion, Confirmation, or a really beautiful Wedding Ring Dish or a gift for an Ordination.
It looks lovely as a stand alone piece or light a tea light in it at night and the pooled glass reflects the candlelight beautifully.
I hand built this bowl, textured it and then added the detail before bisque firing. I then washed it with an oxide and painted in the detail. Two glazes were applied to give the bowl extra depth. I then fired it a second time to 1220C with recycled glass in the base which melts and pools.
It has the words God Bless stamped into the base.
Approximately: Height 6cm Width 11cm
This is not food safe. It can be washed gently using a soft cloth and mild detergent.
Each bowl I make is unique as each one is carefully and loving made and then left to the kiln to decide the final outcome.
You would recieve a vessel very similiar to the one in the photograph. Each piece is individually scupltured and glazed and therefore differs slightly.
It would also be packaged as a gift as in the photos.
