Yellow and bronze dasies, or in this case chrysanthemums, are grouped against the knitted background of this square brooch.
The flowers are stitched in tapestry wools, the background, knitted in a pure wool yarn, has been knitted, and then fulled (felted) for closer texture. The background is basted to a wool fabric background before embroidering.
The back of the brooch is neatened with commercial felt - blanket stitched to the brooch with a bright random thread in primary colours. A knitting yarn of mixed fibres in similar colours, is croheted into a narrow braid and is couched as a frame around the edge of the brooch. A brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
