On his right cheek Rospo sheds a single white tear. May it nourish the roses embroidered below, ah, the bitter-sweet longing for a love fulfilled! Rospo is a black porcelain frog fashioned in the style of Pierrot - the lovesick clown - and considers his sorrowful yearning an art that must be shared regardless to whether the audience consents.
Rospo's head and webbed paws are a black porcelain, while his tear is white porcelain. The collar about his neck is a white silk that has been embroidered with a single rose. Beneath his black silk smock is a mohair body, and on his smock are details of stitched roses and buttons. His trousers are a striped cotton. Rospo is weighted and made to be seated, however his limbs are jointed with buttons to move at hip and shoulder.
Rospo insists the world is black-and-white, as misery and joy are his favorite emotions. So, for his heart stone I placed a snowflake obsidian.
DIMENSIONS: 12 cm high, 7 cm wide and 10 cm long.
MATERIALS: black porcelain, sand, stuffing, metal, leather, silk, mohair, striped cotton, buttons, ribbon, embroidery thread and one snowflake obsidian stone.
