Full description
A4 Print- 'The Windmill and The Narrow Boat - Parbold. I have always loved the pretty village of Parbold in Lancashire near Wigan I grew up not far from here and was Inspired to paint this lovely 230 yr old Windmill overlooking the canal built in 1794. It replaced the Watermill next to the River Douglas which was used to transport grain and coal etc , when the Leeds Liverpool canal was completed this was built 20yrs later to grind grain for local farmers and was integral in the local businesses, Known locally as 'Nathan's Windmill' I've often wondered who 'Nathan' was. The pub at the side also of the same name and age served refreshments to local farmers and passing tradesmen delivering grain to the Mill, It serves refreshments to this day. Ive enjoyed their offerings myself with family in the summertime. It's a lovely place to stop by and popping into the Art Gallery which the Windmill is now home too, makes it an afternoon out. I marvel at the thick solid slabs that make up the Windmill. You can imagine the barges full of grain and the tired men heaving the heavy sacks to the Windmill. I hope you'll love and enjoy this little piece of Lancashire history as much as I do, Who doesn't like to watch a pretty Narrow Boat slowly make its way on a peaceful summer day and see the ducks bobbing on the ripples hoping for a few scraps of bread, with the Windmill watching over everything. If only walls could talk I'm sure it has many stories to tell! Note this is for the Print only. Printed on quality matte White card 300gsm . Free delivery to the Uk. Every order is packed and signed on the back by me personally and sent in a sturdy hardbacked envelope.
