Full description
The first of my Wigan Heritage watercolour A4 prints. This vibrant watercolour captures the energy of the Wigan Casino. This painting depicts an intense dance competition to earn a spot to dance on Top of The Pops 1975 as part of 'The Chosen Few' to dance to the track 'Footsee' by a Canadian group of the same name 'The Chosen Few' who released it originally in 1968 which steadily started to climb the Uk charts reaching number 9, It became a huge hit. Imagine the scene, The sweat drenched dance floor, The high kicks, spins and back drops to the floor. The electric energy and the speed of the footwork! It's a celebration of an iconic moment in Northern Soul history and the spirit of the legendry All-Nighters! This makes a great talking point in any room, and perfect for Northern Soul fans or a charming gift. This made me happy painting it and I often hummed Soul tunes as I worked on this painting. I have memories of seeing my two sisters looking very glam and fashionable in the latest trendy clothes, wide leg pants, super flary skirts. Sweetheart neckline tops, and fur coats ready for a night of dance, I was too young to go but I loved to hear about it and the music which would get played on our bedroom record player at home. Happy times! Let this watercolour scene transport you to the Wigan Casino too once more! Dancing and singing to your favourite Soul tunes. Wether you were active on the dance floor or just an avid collector of the heady soul era of the Casino this will certainly 'Keep The Faith' alive . Please note this Is for print only.
