Please enjoy browsing and should you buy a doll she will be packaged in an organza bag. I have been given literally hundreds and will use them until they run out rather than let them go to landfill. Also I have been asked why I don't often repeat combinations of fabric with the dolls. It is because I tend to buy remnant stock where I can, tiny pieces of fabric that are too small for most people to use. So often I have only enough to make one doll. I first made a mermaid doll five years ago and was never happy with them. They were too big and too bulky. This new pattern is much smaller and more feminine with a dainty tail and lots of embroidery details. They really are a joy to make and I love hunting down 'mermaid' fabric.

Full description
Aethra is a tiny mermaid, an old pattern from 2024. With silk and felt detailing accentuated with sea shell themed charms and hand dyed scrim, each mermaid has a nautical fabric tail with a silk fin. I have scoured the internet looking for sea themed fabrics that appeal to me and they make the basis of each mermaid's colouring. Each tiny mermaid has her modesty preserved with a well placed starfish, which is embroidered and the design repeats on her hand.
Aethra has a lilac and purple theme with a tiny piece of blue sea glass to her heart and soft lilac hair within in which are pearl beads and tiny sea shells. The scrim gives a nicely nautical twist and makes for a great additional texture. Each mermaid is named for a sea nymph from Greek mythology.
Each mermaid stands ten inches tall with a brass ring to her back to hang.
Not wicked sirens but gentle souls bobbing on the briny
She is, as are all my girls, warm and companiable with a touch of English whimsy. I hope she makes you smile.
