Inspired by traditional folk figures and the idea of small, self-contained characters, this piece explores how simple forms and colour can suggest personality without detail. Its small scale invites close looking and quiet imagination.

Full description
This mini hand carved wooden folk figure is a small, one-of-a-kind sculptural artwork, carved slowly by hand from solid basswood and hand painted using artist acrylic paints.
The figure is built from simple, stacked forms, with each carved facet left visible to celebrate the making process.
Rather than focusing on facial detail, the character is suggested through posture, shape and colour — allowing space for interpretation and imagination.
At just 4 cm tall, this is an intentionally small piece, designed to be discovered rather than announced.
The limited colour palette and slightly hunched stance give the figure a quiet, inward-looking presence, as if paused mid-thought or mid-journey.
Viewed from different angles, subtle changes in shape and balance reveal themselves slowly. The base is finished with my maker’s mark on the underside.
