Ankka celebrates the gentle beauty of nature and the charm of woodland fauna. A quiet story of ducks and nature.
In Finnish, "Ankka" means duck. Since moving to England, we have the chance to see ducks almost every day. They are so elegant and calm. They even have their own little houses in the middle of the pond! We never get tired of watching them, and we always hope to see their family grow. This piece is a whimsical way to celebrate their quiet charm.
I wanted to recreate the soft feeling of a duck's feathers. To do this, I used tiny daisy petals from Finland and layered them one by one. I placed them on Finnish birch wood and added touches of gold leaf to catch the light, like sun reflecting on the water. This artwork connects my 6 years of memories in Finland with my new life here in England.
Size: 27x27x6 cm (Deep box frame).
Materials: Dried daisy petals, eco-friendly Finnish birch, gold leaf, and eco-label acrylic.
Glass: I used AR 92 anti-reflective glass, so you can see every tiny detail without any reflection.
Natural Evolution: This is a living piece. Because I use real organic petals, the colors will change a little bit over time. This is part of the beauty of nature. Please avoid hanging it in a humid place.

I hope this artwork brings the same peace and calm to your home that we feel when we watch the ducks. It was made with a lot of heart and a lot of patience. It is ready for a new home.
