I love Hopper's use of light and shadow to create a mood and a particular feeling within his work. The figure gives a feeling of being alone, yet in a movie theatre in New York. I have focussed in on this figure from the original work, giving her her own painting.

Full description
This is a master study, painted freehand in oil on wood panel. I have not tried to recreate the original, painting freehand in layers without a sketch. Within Edward Hopper's 'New York Movie' piece, I have focussed in on just this figure. I was really focusing on the light and shadow to create a mood. Size 16 x 12 inch (40x30cm). Framed with a yellow gold frame.
