Bamboo Coral is a deep sea coral that is naturally a light brown colour, resembling bamboo.
It is dyed for the jewellery trade, usually a deep red to resemble the rare, protected Red Coral.
In ancient times Coral was thought to have the power to protect the wearer against evil and enchantments,
Roman children wore coral necklaces to protect them from danger and keep them healthy.
Although Opal is the traditional birthstone for October and Libra in the west, in the east it would be Coral.
Coral is the traditional gift for the 35th wedding anniversary.
I source my Bamboo Coral beads from a reputable supplier, who is a member of the UK National Association of Jewellers.

Beautiful, dainty red Bamboo Coral beaded bracelet with a gorgeous 10mm carved Bamboo Coral rose in a deep salmon-pink, my last of these exquisitely carved flowers as they are no longer available.
On either side of the rose I have placed a 4mm sparkly Austrian crystal bicone, in the colour 'rosewater opal', between a pair of 2.5mm gold vermeil round beads.
The circle is completed with 4mm Bamboo Coral beads are embellished with more gold vermeil rounds adding a lovely shine.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with gold.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a very special gift for a birthday, anniversary, Christmas, Valentine's day, Mother's Day or as a treat for yourself.
This dainty bracelet measures approximately 7 inches (17.5cm).
Your bracelet will be carefully wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
Price includes delivery within mainland UK.
