Amber is the name for preserved resin from trees over 30 million years old.
It comes in various shades of yellow, orange and brown, is translucent, and frequently contains equally ancient inclusions.
It has been used in jewellery for thousands of years, but is a relatively soft substance and should be treated with care to avoid scratches.
Tiger's Eye (also called Tiger's-Eye, Tiger Eye, Tigers Eye or Tiger Iron) is a popular member of the Quartz family that is usually amber to golden-brown, with a silky lustre, and displays 'chatoyancy', or 'cat's eye'- the characteristic vertical flash when it catches the light.
In ancient Egypt, the stone was believed to be all-seeing, and was used for the eyes of deities.
Roman soldiers wore it in battle in the belief it would give them the courage and strength of a tiger.
It is still regarded as a stone of courage, strength and vitality.

Full description
This gorgeous necklace is in Autumn colours of tawny, golden brown and gold, featuring six 11x4mm Amber nuggets, each topped with a 4mm quality Austrian 'topaz' crystal bicone, highlighted with 1.8mm gold vermeil spacers and separated by 6mm Tiger Eye beads.
The translucent Amber nuggets come from the Baltic Sea and are a beautiful burnt orange colour with natural inclusions.
The necklace graduates to 4mm Tiger Eye beads and fastens with a Tibetan style rose toggle clasp.
The clasp has an antique gold finish and is nickel and lead free.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, this would make a lovely birthday or anniversary present, Christmas gift or a special treat for yourself.
This necklace measures approximately 17 inches (43cm).
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
