I wanted to combine three textile crafts in one unique item - Dorset buttons, Yorkshire buttons and Kumihimo braiding.

Full description
I used three different textile crafts to make this unique, one of a kind necklace. There is one large Dorset button and two smaller ones, all made using a beautiful variegated blue silk thread. The large central button includes blue glass beads and silver coloured beads. Between these buttons are four spherical Yorkshire buttons, made with the same thread.
I made the braid for the necklace using the Japanese Kumihimo braiding technique, in blue and turquoise cotton thread.
I have used nickel-free silver plated links and extendable lobster clasp.
Size - the inner circumference of the necklace can be adjusted from 53cm to 58cm and the diameter of the large central button is 3.5cm
This is the first time I have combined all three of these techniques in a single item and as far as I know I am the only person to have done so.
Please view all the photos.
